Who I Am

ABOUT ME

Specializing in sexual issues/addiction/trauma, LGBT issues like trauma from reparative therapy and an unwelcoming society, immigrant issues, anxiety, depression, couples' work, and developmental trauma.

Don Nocon

I am a gay, Filipino-American who was raised in a Christian home. Church ministry and attendance was a large part of my life culminating in being a youth/assistant pastor until the age of twenty-nine when I finally ended my twenty-year fight to be straight. I love people and naturally draw close to the hurting. The therapy room is a treasured and hallowed ground.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will our work be held in confidentiality?

Yes. We will both work to foster safety and trust.

Are there limits to this confidentiality?

Yes. I cannot keep confidentiality if it involves child abuse, elder abuse, or dependent adult abuse. If you plan to hurt an identifiable person, I am also mandated to report this to proper authorities.

Why do I have to fill out paperwork first? What is the therapeutic hour?

Paperwork must be completed before we start our work together. It will explain the nature of therapy and your/my rights. Each session will be fifty minutes.

What if I have to cancel?

Please give at least 48-hour notice. We can always reschedule. If within the 48 hours, I will have to charge you for the fee.

How long will therapy last?

It is always up to you, the client. We can co-create a timeline. My usual standard for termination is four sessions after you have announced that you are moving on.

Zoom or in-person?

It is based on what you prefer and what topics you decide to bring into the therapeutic container. Zoom allows for convenience. In-person allows for increased nonverbal communication.
